Kentucky makes incredible music. Let’s make sure people hear it.
FaceWook helps you find live music in Kentucky. See who’s playing, where they’re playing, and how to get there. Find artists and venues you love, keep up with their shows, and discover something you didn’t know was happening down the road.
Simple enough. But we’re building it because something important has gotten harder than it should be.
You already asked to hear from them.
You follow a band because you want to know when they’re playing. They post a show because they want you there. Somehow, a company worth billions gets to decide whether you ever see it.
Artists spend years building an audience, then have to pay to reach the people who already chose to follow them. Fans dig through ads and unrelated posts to find something they actually care about. The platforms make money keeping everyone scrolling. The band needs people in the room.
Artists should own their relationships with their fans. Reaching your own audience shouldn’t mean renting access to it.
A good local scene gives more than it takes.
When you discover a band down the street, a lot of people win. You have a good night. The musicians get paid. A venue has a reason to book another show. You meet someone you’ll see again next weekend.
Those connections make a place worth living in. They need places to grow.
As local news shrinks, we lose more of the people and places that help us find out what’s happening nearby. A global feed won’t reliably fill that gap. Kentucky deserves ways to discover Kentucky that are built around the people who live here.
And holy shit, there’s a lot to discover. The talent is already here. It deserves a crowd.
Better tools should put more power in your hands.
AI is making it possible for small teams to build things that once took a big company and a huge budget. We want to use that opening to do something useful for the place we love.
For FaceWook, that starts with gathering scattered show listings and making them easier to find. The bigger ambition is to give artists more control over how they reach people, and give fans more say in what they hear about.
Big social platforms use powerful technology to learn what keeps you watching and sell more of your attention. We think that same technological progress should help people build things for themselves and their communities.
Success here looks like someone finding a show, closing their phone, and going.
We’re fucking going for it.
We don’t know exactly where FaceWook goes from here. We know who we want it to serve.
Tell us what you like. Tell us what’s missing. Tell us what would make this useful to your band, your venue, your town, or the friend who always finds out about the show the morning after.
And support the people making the music. Buy a ticket. Buy the shirt. Bring somebody. Give artists a reason—and the means—to keep sharing what they do.
Our music scene should belong to the people who make it. We shouldn’t have to rent it back.
